Café Rouge

Café Rouge is a French restaurant chain in London. So if you want to get familiar with what’s on the menu in France, coming to this restaurant is a good way to find out what’s on the menu in France, particularly the Paris region. So let’s get started!

One of the most refreshing drinks on the menu at Café Rouge, has to be the Citroen Presse (pressed lemon) It is cool and of course tastes very natural and it’s dairy free!

Pictured above is the Confit de Canard (in English Duck Confit) which consists of slow-cooked Brittany duck leg with dauphinoise potatoes, mixed greens and cherry sauce, you can also have orange sauce as an alternative to the cherry if you wish. This is a speciality in southwest France and its very delicious, plus it makes a change from chicken. It looks very light but it was actually quite filling as a main course.

Alternatively if you are not feeling very adventurous then you can try the Poulet Burger (chicken burger), this is simply chargrilled chicken breast with roasted red peppers, baby gem lettuce and plum tomato in a toasted brioche bun with a choice of classic or sriracha  mayonnaise. Served with frites (french fries) or house salad. In case you are wondering what sriracha mayonnaise is; it is spicy sauce made with red chilli and garlic.

And to close the deal perfectly was the Tarte Tartin for dessert. This consists of a warm apple tart and vanilla ice cream.

So far the best French meal to be had in London.
