The best thing one can do during a heatwave in Nice the French Riviera, is head for the beach!

If you walk along Castel Beach you will arrive at Promenade Des Anglais, a very famous beach.

Many local shops and supermarkets sell parasols. I would strongly advise buying one during the summer heat to prevent sun burn. There are medium sized ones for individuals and there are large ones for families. They also work very well with the stony beach. I actually prefer the stony beach here as it’s therapeutic on your feet and you do not have to worry about getting sand in your clothes or items while setting up or packing away.

If you find any beautiful stones and want to retain the lovely patterns on them, take them back to your hotel or home; wash them and then wipe them with oil. you will be amazed at how beautiful and shiny they will look.

Enjoy yourself in the sun by all means, but remember to stay safe. Keep hydrated and use a good sun cream. Try to avoid the sun at midday which is the peak when it is at the hottest during the day.
